BLUEJACKET — Afton coasted to a slow-pitch softball double-header sweep of Bluejacket here Thursday afternoon.

The Lady Eagles rolled to a 13-3 win in the opener then coasted 14-0 behind pitcher Sam Saylor.

With the sweep, Afton is 2-2 while the Lady Chieftains also stand 2-2.

Bluejacket is idle until March 23, when it hosts Fairland.

Afton won’t resume play until March 23, when it travels to Welch for another twinbill.

Each team picked up three runs in the opening frame, then Afton took charge with a seven-run rally in the second.

The Lady Eagles scored a final three times in the third.

Katie Miller’s three singles headed up the Afton offense. Rachele Williams had a double and single while Carlee Shinn and Dylan Mishmash collected two singles each.

Daylee Osburn, Savanna Mullikin, Sam Saylor and Hailey Cory all added a single.

Laura Collins had two singles each for the Lady Chieftains.

Tori Anderson, Gracie Straw, Cameran Bluejacket and Makinsey Sears had a single each.

Afton 14, Bluejacket 0

Saylor had no strikeouts or no walks while scattering five hits over three innings.

The Lady Eagles played error-free softball.

Afton led 5-0 after one, then picked up five in the second and a final four in the third.

Heading up the Lady Eagle attack was Williams, who had a grand slam in the second inning and a single

Mishmash collected two doubles and Katie Miller added a double and single. Shinn had two singles.

Mullikin tripled while Osburn, Harley Stevens and Taylie Burrow each had a single.

The Lady Eagles also benefitted from 10 walks.

Sophie Windle, Straw, Collins, Sears and Payton Adamson had a single each for Bluejacket.
