Spring sports continue to pick up momentum this week, with baseball, slow-pitch softball and soccer in the mix.

Plus, there’s a little business left on the winter sports front: Northeastern Oklahoma A&M begins play in the Region II basketball tournament starting Thursday in Shawnee.

Miami travels to Wagoner for a District 4A-5 game Tuesday then hosts 3A No. 1 Verdigris at 5 p.m. Thursday at Joe Pollock Field/Miami Stadium.

In other baseball action Tuesday, it’s Fairland at Grove, Welch at Regent Prep, Welch at Prue and Commerce at Foyil.

Then on Thursday, it’s Quapaw at Afton, Bluejacket at Wyandotte and Colcord at Commerce.

The prep schedule for Friday includes Commerce at Bluejacket, Quapaw at Ketchum and Roland at Wyandotte.

Also Friday is the Fairland Festival.

The Owls play South Coffeyville at 11 a.m. and Colcord at 3 p.m. In between, South Coffeyville and Colcord play at 1 p.m.

Wyandotte travels to Sallisaw for a festival with Roland, Oktaha and Sallisaw Central.

The Bears face Roland at 3 p.m. and Sallisaw Central at 5 p.m. Friday then Oktaha at 4 p.m. Saturday.

Miami hosts Westville and Commerce begins play in the Oologah tournament on Thursday.

In slow-pitch softball, Afton travels to Bluejacket Thursday.

Northeastern A&M’s baseball team hosts Des Moines (Iowa) Area Community College in a 1 p.m. double-header Saturday.

The Lady Norse softball team entertains Eastern Oklahoma State College in a 2 p.m. twinbill Thursday.

The NEO men face Seminole at 3 p.m. Thursday while the Lady Norse tackle either Northern Oklahoma-Tonkawa or Western State College at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Region II tournament at Shawnee.

Play there continues through Saturday’s championship games.
