WELCH — Afton picked up a pair of wins against Welch here Saturday night.
The Lady Eagles cruised to a 68-49 decision before the Afton boys held on for a 50-47 victory.
Afton’s boys stretched a 17-11 first-quarter lead into a 40-22 halftime advantage.
The Eagles held a 12-11 edge in the third frame then each team scored 16 in the fourth.
Wil Amos scored 22 points and Gunner Hudson had 20 for Afton.
Gabe Mustain added nine followed by Briar Julian with eight, Brett Hollon with five and Brett Fuser and Zach Henry with two each.
Braxton Turner’s 14 topped the Welch point production. He was joined in double figures by Nolan Schaper with 12.
Others with points for the Cats were Chase Herd with eight, Trenton Seigel with seven, Blake Brannon with six and Colton Armstrong with two.

The Lady Eagles held a 12-7 edge in the first quarter then created a 26-17 lead at the half.
Welch narrowed the gap to two heading into the final stanza, when the Lady Eagles held a 17-16 advantage.
Daylee Osburn had 30 points for Afton. She got 13 of her points in the fourth quarter. Osburn had four 3-point goals and went 8-for-8 at the free throw line.
Skylar Hicks scored 11, followed by Carlee Shinn with seven and Ashley Turley with two.
Haylee Haskell and Maddi Schaper scored 15 and 13, respectively, for the Lady Wildcats.
Others scoring for Welch were Jaeli Jorgenson with eight, Olivia Chenoweth with four, Aspen Wood with three, Jayci Atwood with two and Olivia Pitcher with one.
