COMMERCE — A 17-0 run by Bluejacket spanning the first and second quarters helped the Lady Chieftains roll to a 53-34 victory over Commerce here Monday night.
CHS gained a split on the night by picking up a 42-36 decision in the boys’ game.
A free throw by Morgan Connell created a 6-6 tie for the Lady Tigers, then the teams swapped field goals to create an 8-8 tie.
Sophie Windle nailed a field goal to start Bluejacket on its game-turning run.
The Lady Chieftains (10-1) carried a 28-10 lead into the half, then held a 15-10 advantage in the third quarter.
Windle finished with a game-high 15 points for Bluejacket. She was joined in double figures by Lydia Pipins with 13 and Deedee Satterwhite added 11.
Others scoring for the Lady Chieftains were Cameran Bluejacket with eight, Tiffany Ayres with four and Sidney Windle with two.
Josalynn Barr and Reghan Trease had 12 and 11 points, respectively, for the Lady Tigers (1-8).
Connell finished with five, Gracie Bundy added four and Morgan Ballard chipped in with two points.
Boys: Commerce 42, Bluejacket 36
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead and continued to pull away.
CHS turned a 13-9 first-quarter advantage into a 24-14 halftime spread.
The Tigers were up 36-22 heading into the final stanza.
Carlos Pinales’ 17 points head up the scoring for Commerce. Hunter Burkybile added nine, followed by Terrance Krush, seven; Stefon Blankenship, six; Cody Beehler, two, and Donnie Brown, one.
Justin Pape and Coy McGlasson were Bluejacket’s top scorers. Pape finished with 11 and McGlasson chipped in with 10. He got eight of his total in the fourth quarter.
Also scoring for Bluejacket were Kawlan Rogers with seven, Ryder Blackfox with six and Gabe Satterwhite with two.
All four teams will be in action Thursday during the 72nd annual Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Tournament.
In Boys Blue action, its Commerce vs. Tulsa Wright Christian, noon in the Miami Activity Center and Bluejacket vs. Riverton, Kansas, at 3 p.m. in NEO’s Glen Wolfe Student Activity Center.
The Commerce girls face Wright Christian at 10 a.m. in the NEO Field House in a Girls Norse game.
Bluejacket tackles Chetopa, Kansas, at 7:30 p.m. in the SAC in a Girls Blue clash.
