BLUEJACKET — Bluejacket swept Commerce in Lucky 7 Conference basketball action here Tuesday night.
The Lady Chieftains notched a 59-34 win before the Bluejacket boys squeezed out a 42-39 decision.
An 18-9 edge in the first quarter helped send the Bluejacket girls on their way.
The Lady Chieftains held a 22-8 edge in the second quarter. Commerce outscored the hosts 12-9 in the third, but BHS created the final margin with a 10-5 advantage over the final eight minutes.
Three players reached double figures for Bluejacket. Lydia Pipins had a game-high 17 points, followed by Sidney Windle with 12 and Tori Anderson contributed 11.
Cameron Bluejacket scored four points while Laura Collins, Tiffany Ayres and Sydney Martin added two each. Emily Chandler chipped in with a free throw.
Morgan Connell and Josalynn Barr had 10 and nine points, respectively, for Commerce.
Reghan Trease had eight points, followed by Gracey Bundy with four and River Friel finished with three points.
In the boys’ game, a 17-8 margin in the fourth quarter helped Bluejacket create the final score.
Commerce held a 9-8 edge in the first quarter then each team got 15 points in the second.
The Tigers led by six heading into the fourth quarter.
Justin Pape had a game-high 25 points. He had 4 3-point goals and was 5-of-6 at the free throw line.
Kawlan Rogers added nine points, followed by Coy McGlasson with four and Cooper Decker and Rider Blackfox with two each.
Terrance Crush was the Tigers’ leading scorer with 19 points. Cody Beehler, who had 10, joined him in double figures.
Rounding out the CHS scoring were Carlos Pinales and Donnie Brown, with four points each, and Jose Dominguez with two.
