HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Three players scored in double figures while leading the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M Golden Norsemen to a 68-56 victory over the Tabor College JV Friday in the first round of the Hutchinson Blue Dragon Classic.
“We are struggling to find out what we are on offense,” Norse coach Dustin Grover said. “We are making so many mistakes on both ends, which begins to accumulate. Those mistakes really kill momentum and continuity.”
The Norsemen (1-1) never could shake Tabor. They led 31-24 at the half and were up by as many as 13, 66-53.
There were four lead changes and seven ties.
Curhone Baldwin had a team-high 21 points while Gabriel Ferreira and Kingley Sam added 18 and 16, respectively.
NEO got points from only four other players. Pedro Lopes and Justin Ford had four each while Dante Jefferson chipped in with three and Morris Talbert added two.
Nick Lee scored 21 for Tabor. Gavin Schumann had 12 and Diontre Cutliff contributed 11.
The Norse faced host Hutchinson Saturday night. They travel to Coffeyville, Kansas Wednesday to face the Red Ravens.
