MIAMI — Allowing two goals in the first half Sunday, the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College Lady Norse soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision to Southwestern Illinois College of Belleville at Red Robertson Field.

While losing their second consecutive match, the Lady Norse are 10-5 on the season while the Southwestern Illinois Blue Storm are 8-6-1 overall.

The Lady Norse return to Oklahoma Collegiate Athletic Conference action at 12:30 p.m. Thursday with a match at Midwest City against Rose State College. NEO is 5-2 in the conference while the Lady Raiders are 12-3-1 on the season and 3-1-1 in the OCAC.

Just 7:01 into the first half, the Blue Storm grabbed a 1-0 lead on a goal by sophomore midfielder Kailey Duncan. Sophomore defender Hannah Lehmann and freshman midfielder Mikayla McCarthy assistd on the play.

NEO responded two minutes later on a goal by freshman forward Ashya Butler with an assist from sophomore midfielder Arian Laird to create a 1-1 tie.

Less than five minutes before halftime at the 40-minute mark, Southwestern Illinois regained the lead for good on an unassisted goal by veteran forward Erika Lloyd.

Of the eight shots taken by the Lady Norse during the 90-minute match, seven were on goal.

The Blue Storm took 15 shots with eight on goal.
