HENRYETTA – Fairland’s Kathleen Schertz qualified for the Class 2A cross country state meet during regional competition here Saturday.
Schertz, a freshman with the Lady Owls, was eighth overall with a time of 13:29.8 over the 3,200-meter course.
The state cross country meet will be Saturday at the Gordon Cooper Vo-Tech in Shawnee.
Wyandotte’s girls were 11th overall with 259 points and an overall time of 1:20.8.
The best individual finisher for the Lady Bears was Sarah Wright, 35th, 14:48.6.
Other placers for Wyandotte were Ja’ce Funk, 43rd, 15:02.1; Kyah Kingfisher, 97th, 17:21.0; Ashleigh Carr, 103rd, 17:38.3, and Madison McBrien, 57th, 15:17.7.
Jacie Clinton of Welch was 18th at 14:09.1, and
Fairland’s Kassidy Daugherty and Madison Sanford were 56th and 114th, with times of 15:16.4 and 18:44.3, respectively.
The Wyandotte boys were 13th with 319 points and a combined time of 1:51.9.
Jordon Burney was 40th at 20.12.0, followed by Matthew Mensink, 54th, 20:47.3; Jacob Burney, 97th, 22:59.9; Justin Campbell, 99th, 23:04.8; Wade Brown, 113th, 24:15.2; Evan Logan, 118th, 24:35.3, and Roy Stovall, 120th, 24:46.4.
Fairland had two runners in the boys’ competition. Jose Garcia was 116th at 24:30.1, and Lance Werline placed 134th at 33:20.0.
