Charles Shinn of Quapaw died Wednesday, July 11, 2007, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami after an illness. He was 65.
Mr. Shinn was born July 24, 1941, in Mount Vernon, Mo., to Frank and Daisey (Yancy) Shinn. He lived in Quapaw since 1962, moving from Seneca, Mo.
He was a Vietnam War veteran of the Army.
He worked for Newell Coach for 34 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Quapaw.
Survivors include his wife, Geraldine Shinn, of the home; one son, Charles Joseph Shinn of Collinsville; one stepson and his wife, Jeffery Wayne and Jody Ray of Quapaw; two sisters and their husbands, Betty and Don Stoltenberg of Wichita, Kan., and Joann and Roy Teeter of Quapaw; two brothers and their wives, Jerry and Patty Shinn of Quapaw and Frankie and Cindy Shinn of Seneca, and two grandchildren, Jeffery Ray Jr. and Jamie Dawn Ray.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Jimmy Shinn and Leroy Shinn, and one sister, Helen McGhee.
Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Baptist Church in Quapaw with the Rev. Dale Neal officiating. Burial will be in Clio Cemetery in Jenkins, Mo.
Military rites will be conducted at the cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Wendell Laurie, Greg Martin, Wayne Thomasson, John Jennings, Claude Blunk and Jim Baughman. Honorary pallbearers will be Willard Murphy, Jeffrey Wayne Ray Jr., Eric Fonseca, Ronnie Briscoe and Jim Jennings.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at First Baptist Church in Quapaw.
Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.
Memorials are suggested to the Gideon Memorial Bibles in care of the funeral home.
