James Walter “Dub” Peck of Miami died Tuesday, Nov. 20, 2007, at Integris Baptist Regional Health Center in Miami. He was 79.

Mr. Peck was born Nov. 27, 1927, in Commerce to Arthur and Minnie (McCumber) Peck. He graduated from Commerce High School and Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College with a degree in business.

He was a World War II veteran of the Army.

He worked as an accountant for many years with Burtrum Motor Company and Glen-Berry Manufacturing Company. He served as president of the Wyandotte School Board in 1975. He was an active member of Wyandotte Lions Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 147 of Miami and First Christian Church of Miami.

He married Dorothy Jonsson on Feb. 7, 1948, in Miami. She survives.

Additional survivors include one daughter, Sharon Kay Peck of Tulsa; one brother and his wife, LeRoy and Neomi Peck of Commerce, and one sister and her husband, Nancy and John Phillips of Tulsa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Friday at First Christian Church in Miami. Gary Reed will officiate. Burial will be in Seneca (Mo.) Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Norris Greer, Dave Ritchey, Bill Robertson, Jim Cundiff, Robbie Robinson and Ron Minson. Honorary pallbearers will be LeRoy Neil, Harlin Brewer, Leo Captain, Woody Duvall and Chuck Beaver.

Arrangements are under the direction of Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
