Marie Dianne Emily Buffalo, 59, of Grove, Okla., passed from this life Saturday, July 26, 2008, at 12:25 a.m. at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo., after a valiant battle with cancer.
She was born Aug. 2, 1948, in Boston, Mass., to the union of John H. and Victoria Beaulieu Callahan.
She was of the Catholic faith. She retired in 2001 as a Teaming Facillitator for Texas Instruments, before moving to this area from Taunton, Mass.
Marie D. Callahan and Arthur R. Buffalo Jr. were united in marriage June 5, 2006, in Jay, Okla. He survives, of the home. Also surviving are two sons, James Joseph Leahy and Kevin Michael Leahy, both of Bonita Springs, Fla.
She has one granddaughter, Hannah Marie Leahy, and 10 stepgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and her brother, John Joseph Callahan.
Funeral services will be Monday, July 28, 2008, at 10 a.m. at the Quapaw Tribal Long House, Quapaw, Okla., with the Rev. Geoffery Buffalo officiating. Interment will follow at the Quapaw Tribal Cemetery. Her sons and nephews will serve as pallbearers. Services are under the direction of Derfelt's Baxter Chapel, Baxter Springs, Kan.
Mrs. Buffalo will lie in state at the Quapaw Longhouse after 1 p.m. Sunday. A Rosary will be observed at the Longhouse Sunday evening at 7 p.m. with Fr. Chrystomong Ah Moung officiating.
