James Robert “Jughead” Wood of Peoria died Tuesday, July 15, 2008, at his home after an illness. He was 51.
Mr. Wood was born April 11, 1957, in Baxter Springs, Kan., to Bobbie and Lola (Burkybile) Wood.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War.
He was employed by Leon King Manufacturing for 14 years. He was of the Baptist faith.
He was married to Peggy Spencer. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons, Dakota Wood of Chetopa, Kan., and Terry Spencer Jr.; seven daughters, Jamie Delmont and Ella Wood, both of Columbus, Kan., Linsey Spencer and Samantha Spencer, both of the home, Carla Cox of Galena, Kan., Melissa Spencer of Quapaw and Jacqueline Anderson of Vinita; his mother, of Vinita; four brothers, Russel Boyd of Quapaw, Jerry Wood and Jody Wood, both of Miami and Gary Wood of Picher; two sisters, Katrina Boyd of Quapaw and Linda Wilson of Vinita, and several grandchildren.
Memorial services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. The Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate.
Viewing will be held in his home.
Indian rites will be conducted by Kevin Dawes Friday evening.
Military honors will be conducted by the American Legion Funeral Detail.
Pallbearers will be Randy Fleming, Bubs Harris, Jerry Wood Sr., Jerry Wood Jr., Dan Reed and Raymon Delmont. Honorary pallbearers will be Russel Boyd, Dalton Delmont, Cody Wood, Jerry Spencer and Fat Man Evans.
