Retha L. Overman of Chetopa, Kan., died Tuesday, Nov. 27, 2007, at the Oswego (Kan) Hospital.
She was 83.
Mrs. Overman was born Jan. 1, 1924, in rural Bartlett, Kan., to Earl and Tressie Brillhart. She was a graduate of Oswego High School.
For a time, she worked at Demings Investment Corporation in Oswego. Later she and her husband became owners and operators of Chetopa Grain. She retired in 1999 at which time they sold their business. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Chetopa.
She married Edward “Pete” Overman on June 11, 1950, at the Presbyterian Church in Oswego. He survives, of Chetopa.
Additional survivors include two sons, Douglas Overman of Welch and Bob Overman of Chetopa; one daughter, Carol Weaver of Welch; one sister, Leta Davis of Montrose, Colo.; two half-brothers, Buck Wilford and Buddy Wilford, both of Idaho, six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one brother.
Services are 10 a.m. Saturday at the First Christian Church in Chetopa. Burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
Friends may call at Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa after 4 p.m. Friday.
