Naomi Ruth Darnell Blevins died Friday, Aug. 10, 2007, at Higher Call Nursing Center in Quapaw after a long illness. She was 88.

Mrs. Blevins was born April 7, 1919, in Pineville, Mo., to Joe and Nellie (Botts) Cook. She moved to Miami as a child.

She was a housewife and a member of the Church of Christ of Miami. She enjoyed quilting and cooking and being with her family.

On Aug. 21, 1937, she married Clair Ernest Darnell in Joplin, Mo. He preceded her in death on July 14, 1956. In April of 1960, she married Jess Blevins. He preceded her in death on June 27, 1996.

She was also preceded in death by eight siblings; one great-grandson, Zachary Haskins and one stepgrandson, Brendon Blevins.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Shirley and Clinton Brewster of Bernice, and Judith and Bob Kropp of Miami; four stepsons and their wives, G.W. and Jenny Blevins of Miami, Lyndon and Deana Blevins of Denton, Texas, John and Yvonne Blevins of Occidental, Calif., and David and Roxanne Blevins of Denton; two stepdaughters, Beverly Wooley of Miami and Melissa Gruing and her husband Jim of Mills Valley, Calif.; one brother, Joe Cook Jr. of Miami; two sisters, Beatrice Riley and Betty Viles, both of Miami; 22 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and six great-great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 2 to 3 p.m. today at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami.

The funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m., Monday at Ottawa Baptist Church east of Miami with the Rev. Steve Brodrick and minister Bobby Key officiating. Burial will follow in Ottawa Indian Cemetery, east of Miami. Grandsons and great-grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family suggests memorials to Higher Call Nursing Center in care of the funeral home.
