Memorial services for Patricia J. “Pat” Rankin, 74, of Marietta, OK will be conducted at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, March 6, 2012 in the Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home Chapel, Marietta, with Chaplain Stanley Joseph officiating, assisted by Pastor Jeremy Higle. Services are under the direction of Flanagan-Watts Funeral Home & Cremation Services.
Mrs. Rankin was born October 25, 1937 in Miami, OK, the daughter of Wayland and Mable Green Munson. She passed away Friday, March 2, at her residence in Marietta.
A graduate of Wyandotte, OK high school, she then attended Oklahoma State University, Stillwater, and graduated from East Central University, Ada, in May 1973. Mrs. Rankin taught in both junior high and high school for more than 30 years in Marietta, Thackerville and Turner public schools. Following the death of her first husband, Ernest Barger in 1966, she married Gary Rankin on July 17, 1970 in Miami. The couple moved to Love County in 1974 to make their home. Her second husband preceded her in death on November 7, 2005. Mrs. Rankin enjoyed photography, crossword puzzles, sewing and board games, especially scrabble. She was of the Assembly of God faith.
In addition to her two husbands, she was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Todd Munson and Leonard Munson; and two sisters, Marjorie Davis and Rosalee Brewster.
Survivors include two sons and daughters-in-law, Douglas D. and Mistye Barger of the home and Russell R. and Kelley Rankin of Williston, ND; two sisters, Bonnie Hollandsworth and Betty Young of Miami; four grandchildren, Rachel Barger of Marietta, Rankin Barger of Ada and Wilson Rankin and Josh Rankin of Williston; and a great-granddaughter, Ashbye Barger.
Honorary bearers are Randy and Linda Nelson, Lynn Puckett, Josh Hall, Ronnie Colston, staff of Faith Hospice and all of her former students.
