Lura Mae (Holt) Nickerson met her Lord and Saviour at 10:20 a.m. Aug. 22, 2007, in Marshall, Texas. She was 86.
Lura Mae was born Jan. 29, 1921, in Fairland to John N. and Lura Mae (Willis) Holt. She lived in the Miami-Fairland area most of her life, graduating from Fairland High School with the class of ‘39.
She was a member of the First Christian Church in Fairland. She was a homemaker and a cook for the Fairland Public Schools for many years.
She married Ellis Nickerson on Jan. 3, 1942, in Fairland. They were married over 50 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ellis; her brothers, Charley, George, Rufus and Carl; her sisters, Clara Melton and Marjorie Clay, and a great-granddaughter, Taryn.
She is survived by a son, Charles and wife Becky, Marshall, Texas; a daughter, Betty Jo Boyd, Edmond; four grandchildren, Sheila George and husband Kevin, Sheri Kee and husband Craig, Brian Nickerson and wife Stacey and Robin Salinas and husband Leroy, and six great-grandchildren, Drew and Alec Kee, Shelby George, Danielle, Kaylee and Leah Nickerson.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007, at First Christian Church in Fairland. Minister Brian Giebler will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairland Cemetery under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church in Fairland, the Arthritis Foundation, JDRF or MPS Society sent in care of the funeral home.
