Norma Jean Stroud of Russellville, Ark., passed away Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007, at her home after an illness. She was 82.
Norma was born Nov. 4, 1924, in Marionville, Mo., to Virgil A. and Fern Grace (Lee) Turner. She lived most of her life in the Picher-Cardin area. She graduated from Picher High School in 1942 and from Tahlequah with a bachelor of arts degree in education.
She was a school teacher and a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Russellville. She was a member of the Eastern Star Chapter 107 of Miami and the Dames Club at Tahlequah.
She was married to Raymond Stroud. He preceded her in death on Oct. 21, 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Yvonne Turner and Doris Turner Carter.
She will truly be missed by all.
Survivors include one son and his wife, John and Patti Stroud of Russellville; two daughters and their husbands, Terry Sue and Richard Goddard of Monticello, Ark., and Karen Lee and Gary Hayes of Greenwood, Ark.; four grandchildren, Shelly Lynn Stroud of Memphis, Tenn., Dianna Tomlinson of Pine Bluff, Ark., Robert R.L. Goddard of Richardson, Texas, and Joshua Hawk Hays of Greenwood, and one great-granddaughter, Lillianna Wren Hays of Greenwood.
Graveside services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. The Rev. Bob Barker will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
