Well respected Farmer and Rancher, Charles L. "Bill" Judy of Chetopa, Kan., passed away Friday, Jan. 1, 2010 at Chetopa Manor. He was 93 years old.

Bill was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Ft. Worth, Texas, to Claude and Mamie (Inman) Judy. He was a graduate of Saddle Mountain High School in Saddle Mountain, Okla. He proudly served his country with the United States Navy from 1941-1945, during World War II.

On May 5, 1946, he married the love of his life, Freida Fritz. She preceded him in death after more than fifty years of marriage.

Bill had a love for agriculture and enjoyed farming. He was an active member of the VFW of Welch and the Elks Lodge of Miami. He will be greatly missed by all.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; three brothers and one sister.

He is survived by one son, Charles Gerald Judy and his wife Teresa of Madison, Ala.; one daughter, Cheryl Murphy and her husband Frankie of Bartlett, Kan.; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two step great-grandchildren; and a host of friends.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 5-6:30 p.m., Sunday, Jan. 3, at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch.

Services will be held at 1 p.m.. Monday, Jan. 4, at the Thomas Funeral Home, Welch, with Fred Wooldridge officiating. Serving as pallbearers will be Shawn, Shannon and Tres Biggs, Garred Judy, Frankie Murphy and Gary Reynolds. Interment will follow at the Williams Timberhill Cemetery, East of Welch.
