Doris Jeanne Laird of Miami died Sunday, Oct. 28, 2007, at her home after an illness. She was 85.

Mrs. Laird was born Dec. 1, 1921, in Mississippi to Leland and Laura (Scirivner) Henderson. She lived in Miami for 25 years, moving from Sherman Oaks, Calif.

She was a homemaker. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and a volunteer at Dobson Museum and Integris Baptist Regional Health Center, all in Miami.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dudley Laird, on May 28, 2007, and her parents.

Survivors include two stepsons, Lamont Laird and his wife Rebecca and Lance Laird, all of Miami; one stepdaughter and her husband, Elissa and Burt Patadal of Pink, one niece, Cathy Verner of Mississippi, and one great-nephew.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Glen Abbey Memorial Gardens in Miami. The Rev. Kathy Leithner will officiate.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
