Ernest Lee Brookshire Sr. of Galena, Kan., died Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2008, at St. Johnís Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo., after an illness. He was 70.
Mr. Brookshire was born May 12, 1938, in Picher to John and Lola (Crain) Brookshire. He lived in the Picher, Galena area his entire life.
He was a self-employed roofer. He was of the Baptist faith.
He married Sharon Clark in 1971. She preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Bill, John and Robert.
Survivors include six sons and their wives, Ernest Brookshire Jr., Richard and Paula Brookshire and John Clark, all of Galena, David and Gigi Brookshire of Pittsburg, Kan., Fred and Rebbecca Brookshire of Orlando, Fla., and Jamie and Sharon Clark of Joplin; one daughter and her husband, Jana and Fred Robinson of Galena; two brothers, Ray Brookshire of Riverton, Kan., and Lonnie Brookshire of Galena, several grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Oakhill Cemetery in Galena.
His sons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 4 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.
