Darrell Eugene Wilson of Wagoner died Sunday, Jan. 10, 2010, at Wagoner Care Center under hospice care. He was 65.

Mr. Wilson was born Oct. 3, 1944, in Vinita to Julian Leroy Wilson and Naida (Dunbar) Wilson. He was a fourth generation descendant of original settler’s in the Cherokee Outlet/Land Strip in 1893. He graduated in 1963 from Miami High School where he served as co-captain of the football team. He graduated from Northeastern State College in Tahlequah with a degree in accounting.

He was a Vietnam War veteran of the Army where he served from 1966 to 1968.

In 1969, he was admitted to practice as a certified public accountant (CPA) in Oklahoma, later in Arkansas and Kansas. He spent 39 years working in the finance, insurance and administration of health care practices as a CPA, most notably as the CFO of Doctor’s Hospital in Tulsa and nearly a decade as the chief administrator at Wheeling Clinic in Tulsa.

He married Sadie Ellen Stewart in July, 1977. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include his children, Pamela and Gary Coffman, Renee McGehee, Darrell and Leah Wilson, Chris and Dasha Andronica and James and Vanessa Stewart; one brother and his wife, Mickey and Jamie Wilson of Ardmore; his stepmother, Clara Wilson of Miami; 10 grandchildren, Jennifer, Lisa, Taylor, Austin, Whitney, Madison, Alexander, Benjamin, Adrian and Rachel, and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceeded in death by his parents and one brother, Alvin Wilson.

A private family service will be held on a later date.

Arrangements are under the direction of Shipman Funeral Home & Crematory in Wagoner.
