Longtime resident Raymond L. Brown passed away Saturday, March 29, 2008, in Miami, Okla., at the age of 84 years.
Raymond was born Aug. 13, 1923, in Orrick, Mo., to his parents William J. and Neilli Clark Brown.
Corporal Raymond Brown served his country faithfully during World War II in the United States Marines as a corporal in the Third Division of the Marines in the Southwest Pacific, Puadal Canal, Bougainville, Guam, Guadal Canal from New Zealand and Iwo Jima for more than four years in World War 11.
Raymond worked for General Mills in the maintenance department for food processing. He was a dedicated employee from 1946 until 1986 at his retirement.
Raymond took Miss Chleora May Young as his bride on June 25, 1950, in Bentonville, Ark.
He was a member of Rock Fall Baptist Church and a member of the American Legion Post 147.
Although Raymond is no longer with us his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family he leaves behind which include: six nieces: Sherry and husband Jerry Jones of Hot Springs, Ark., Pat and husband Joe Foster of Oklahoma City, Mary and husband David Walker of Miami, Okla., Robin and husband David Baker of Miami, Okla., Becky Pittman of Oklahoma City and Tami and husband Ernest Sota of Tulsa, Okla., and a host of long-time friends and neighbors.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 2, 2008, at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home Chapel with Chaplin Bob Baker officiating. Interment will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery.
Services are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
