Nellie Nadine McCord died Sunday, Dec. 21, 2008.

Mrs. McCord was born Aug. 15, 1919, in Russell Creek District, Craig County, to George and Grace (Parks) Fromm. She was a lifelong resident of Welch.

She worked on the family farm, northwest of Welch. Her love of baking began at 15 when she worked at Ingallson’s Bakery in Chetopa, Kan.

She married H.C. “Shorty” McCord on June 17, 1942. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by by one son, C.J. McCord; her parents, and an infant sister, Vera Fromm.

Survivors include one son and his wife, Denny and Shirley McCord of Welch; one sister, Virginia McCord of Ketchum; one brother, George Roy Fromm of Langley; six grandchildren; Lori Hart of Columbia, Mo., Jo Nell Van Lear of Kirksville, Mo., Terri Cornett of Fayetteville, N.C., Maranda Acton of St. Joseph, Mo., Dalton McCord and Cheyenne McCord, both of Welch, and seven great-grandchildren.

Services will be 2 p.m. today at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch. Minister Brad Canham will officiate. Burial will be in Williams Timberhill Cemetery, east of Welch.

Pallbearers will be John Seay, Steve Bruce, Bruce Vazquez, Gary Chaney, VO Morgan and Keith Van Lear. Honorary pallbearers will be Tom Herrin, Merle Neil and Sam Jorgenson.

The family will receive friends at the home of Denny McCord, 5152 S. 4400 Road in Welch.
