Longtime resident of Miami, Okla., Mr. James Brittain, 79, passed away Wednesday, July 30, 2008 in Joplin, Mo.
James was born to his family J.C. and Anna Dart Brittain on April 23, 1929, in Miami. He served his country faithfully in the U. S. Army.
James was a dispatcher for Consolidated Freightways for over 33 years at his retirement. He was also a firefighter in his younger years. On July 25, 1953, James took Miss Angie Boyd as his bride in Miami. They celebrated their 55th anniversary this month. James was a longtime and dedicated member of Immanuel Baptist Church and a member of the second milers' class.
Although James is no longer with us, his memory and legacy will be kept alive through the family and friends he leaves behind which include: His wife Angie, of the home; one Daughter, Susie and her husband Bill Rowe of Joplin, Mo.; a Brother, John Brittain of Tulsa, Okla.; two Sisters, Janelle Damlougi of Laurel, Miss. and Joan and her husband Ray Metzger of Sperry, Okla.; two grandsons, Justin and his wife Chrissy Larsen of Springfield, Mo., and Andrew and his wife Madelaine Larsen of Biloxi, Miss., and two great-granddaughters, Kinnadee and Ella Larsen.
A private family service has been scheduled.
Services are under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home.
