Floyd K. Renfro of Broken Arrow died Sunday, May 24, 2009, at his home after an illness. He was 88.
Mr. Renfro was born Nov. 1, 1920, at Pyatt, Ark., to Jesse and Dona (Weatherford) Renfro. He moved to Broken Arrow in 1999.
He was a World War II veteran, serving in the RAAF from 1942 to 1945.
He was a minister, serving pastorates in Indiana, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri. He was ordained with the Oklahoma District of the Assemblies of God. His last pastorate was at Long Assembly of God, northeast of Fairland.
He married Mary Anna Reid on Dec. 27, 1941, at Calico Rock, Ark. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one son and his wife, Herman and Sharon Renfro of Indianapolis, Ind.; three daughters and their husbands, Elsie and Art Rhine of Bixby, Alice and Jerry Vernon of Broken Arrow and Faye and Ralph Higinbotham of Coweta; 13 grandchildren and 30 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by his parents; one brother, Paul Renfro, and one sister, Bertha Knowles.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Assembly of Broken Arrow. Pastor Jerry Vernon and the Rev. Devin Rohr will officiate. Burial will be 3 p.m. Wednesday at Wyandotte Cemetery. The Rev. Earl Knowles will officiate.
Military rites will be performed by the American Legion Post 147 Funeral Detail.
Pallbearers will be Steve Rhine, John Rhine, Jamey Bowles, Jeff Vernon, Jeff Terry, Freddie Ferguson, Roger Higinbotham and Jared Higinbotham.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Hayhurst Funeral Home in Broken Arrow.
Arrangements are under the direction of Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.
Memorials are suggested to the Hot Springs Children’s Home in care of the Adcock Funeral Home.
