Carl Eugene Morgan Sr. of Baxter Springs, Kan., died Saturday, June 16, 2007, at Freeman East in Joplin, Mo. He was 70.

Mr. Morgan was born Sept. 22, 1936, in Kuna, Idaho, to William and Sarah (Green) Morgan.

He was employed by B.F. Goodrich in Miami for 21 years and, after working for 14 years at Empire District of Riverton, Kan., he retired in 2000. He was a past board member of the Baxter Springs Saddle Club and the McCune Methodist Church. 

He married Barbara Ann McCumber on June 14, 1969, in Galena, Kan. She survives, of Baxter Springs. 

Additional survivors include three sons, Jerry J. Hatfield and his wife Pam and Carl Morgan Jr., all of Baxter Springs and Tony Ray Hatfield of Joplin; one daughter and her husband, Sherrill and Dale Johnston of Welch; three children by a previous marriage, Kim, Kris, and Kraig; one brother and his wife, Robert L. and Peggy Morgan of Jenners Town, Pa., six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Derfelt's Baxter Chapel.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the chapel.
