Daisy Ennis Winfrey departed this life on Oct. 8, 2008, at Craig General Hospital in Vinita, Okla., surrounded by loved ones.
She was born Sept. 15, 1918, in rural Bluejacket, Okla., to Clement P. Davis and Myrtle (Wakeman) Davis.
She married Charley Winfrey on Oct. 24, 1936, in Miami, Okla.
Ennis Winfrey is survived by her 15 children and their spouses, Tom and Mae Winfrey, Richard and Wathena Winfrey, Shirley and Larry Dossman, Clem and Shirley Winfrey, Gary and Peggy Winfrey, Sharon and John Lay, Ann and Dick Morrison, Mike and Betty Winfrey, Nancy and Gregory Brooks, Terry and Terry Winfrey, Debbie and David Davenport, Rudy and Janet Winfrey, Glen and Lisa Winfrey, Sonny and Jo Winfrey and Randy and Candy Winfrey. She is also survived by many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. Additionally, she is survived by one sister, Ruby Johnson of Claremore, Okla., and several nieces and nephews and Miss Kitty.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charley; her parents, four brothers and two sisters, and three great-grandchildren.
Ennis recently was honored with a 90th birthday celebration and family reunion.
She served as Bluejacket Town Clerk and received certificates of appreciation from the Bluejacket Fire Department and the Oklahoma State Legislature for her years of service to the town of Bluejacket. A wing of the Family Health and Rehabilitation Center in Wichita, Kan., named the Daisy House, was dedicated in her honor earlier this year.
She devoted her life to her family and enjoyed them immensely. Her hobbies included her flowers and plans, working crossword puzzles in ink, reading and her cat.
Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch, Okla.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 11, 2008, at Bluejacket School in Bluejacket, Okla. Interment will follow at Bluejacket Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Bluejacket Fire Department or to a charity of personal choice.
