Former Alaska and King Salmon resident John Wood, 67, died Sunday, July 20, 2008, at the Grove Nursing Center in Grove, Okla.

John was born Aug. 21, 1941, in Welch, Okla., to Otis and Lois Wood. He graduated from Miami High School and enlisted in the Navy in 1959. He served in the Navy until 1965 with a world cruise on the USS Bainbridge. He was a licensed pilot and flight instructor.

He was highly skilled and built his own homes in Alaska and remodeled his home in Wyandotte.
