Viva Burnetta Brashers of Miami died Sunday, June 24, 2007, at Eastwood Manor in Commerce after an illness. She was 85.
Mrs. Brashers was born June 20, 1922, in Lawrence County, Mo., to Daniel Boone and Lucinda Josephine (Stockard) Pendleton. She had lived in the Miami area since 1951, moving from Seligman, Mo. She was a member of the First Christian Church in Miami and was a homemaker.
She married Aubrey Brashers in October of 1940 in Monett, Mo. He preceded her in death on March 6, 2002.
Mrs. Brashers was also preceded in death by two grandchildren, James Allen Brashers and Ryan David Brashers; two brothers, Raymond Pendleton and Herman Pendleton and two sisters, Beulah Mooneyham and Irene Pendleton.
Survivors include two sons, Gary Ray Brashers and Randy Brashers, both of Miami; one sister, Imogene Patterson of North Miami, and two grandchildren, Michael Ray Brashers and Kevin Scott Brashers.
A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami with the Rev. Bob Barker officiating. Interment will follow at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
