Suella Stokes Donica, 70, passed away peacefully at her home in Tulsa on June 18, 2010.

Born Sept. 22, 1939 to Lavere and Inez (Anderson) Stokes in Miami, Suella graduated from Miami High School in 1957. She moved to Tulsa in 1960 and was a stay-at-home mom for several years.

In 1970, she became one of the founders and principal owners of the clothing store Pants America.

Suella worked in many different fields including publishing, real estate, sales, retail and insurance. She was a talented cook and enjoyed entertaining and preparing meals for her family and many friends. She especially took great joy in her grandchildren. Those who knew her appreciated her keen sense of humor, dry wit, intuition, loyalty and intelligence.

She was an extremely well-read woman who took great interest in good books and the news of the day. Faced with many health issues, she always joked that she enjoyed reading the obituaries every morning to see if she was still alive.

Her time on earth brought much happiness and joy to all who knew her. She is survived by her daughters, Beth Donica of Tulsa, Debbie Donica Mueller of Saranac Lake, NY; grandchildren Katy Bruce and Alex Morris of Tulsa; Matt, Chris and Megan Mueller of Saranac Lake; Cousin George Stokes of Bastrop, Texas, and many friends, too numerous to mention.

Funeral services are scheduled for Tuesday, June 22, 2010, 11 a.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Memorial contributions may be sent to the Tulsa Chapter of the MS Society or Hospice of Green Country.
