Bessie Mae Edwards died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2007. She was 100.

Mrs. Edwards was born March 14, 1907, in Little Rock, Ark., to Joe and Lena Pearl (Gaston) Chadwick. She formerly lived in Picher.

She was married to Vol Lee Edwards. He preceded her in death. She later married Cly Smith. He preceded her in death.

She was also preceded in death by three children, Claud Edwards, Viola Carter and Charles Edwards, six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Survivors include one daughter, Lena Carter of Arizona; one son, Samuel Edwards of Arizona; two stepdaughters, Beatress Webber and Choetta Sue Smith; one stepson, Earl Smith; 24 grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Memorial services will be 7 p.m. Tuesday at Assembly of God Chruch in Quapaw. The Rev. Bill Webber will officiate.

Arrangements are under the direction of Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.
