Thomas Otis “Tom” Roberts of Afton died Thursday, June 28, 2007, at Craig General Hospital in Vinita. He was 70 years of age.

Mr. Roberts was born Oct. 29, 1936, to Frank and Glenna (Carr) Roberts in Afton. He graduated from Afton High School in 1954.

He joined the Air Force in February 1955 and worked as a command post controller until his retirement on March 1, 1975.

Mr. Roberts later worked at Shangri-La Resort on Grand Lake for nine years. He served as adjutant for American Legion Post No. 124 in Afton for many years. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Vinita and was of the Baptist faith.

He married Theresa Coyne Wilks on Feb. 13, 1978, in Miami. She survives, of the home.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Bill Roberts, and two sisters, Judy Lamoreaux and Pat Baker.

Other survivors include one son, Andrew Roberts of Taylorsville, Utah; two daughters, Carol Christensen and her husband Jay of Sandy, Utah, and Audrae Tucker of Massachusetts; one stepson, Eric Wilks and his wife Stacey of Edmond; one stepdaughter, Pamela Wilks of Miami; three sisters, Wilma Manning of Melbourne, Fla., Thelma Vickers of Afton and Kay Huchteman and her husband Doug of Bethany, 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held 1 p.m. Monday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. Alex Kennedy will officiate.

A private burial will be held at Mount Hope Cemetery in Afton at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to the American Legion Children's Home in care of the funeral home or to a charity of choice.
