Verna Marie Stilley of North Miami died Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2008, at her home after an illness.
She was 83.
Mrs. Stilley was born Jan. 5, 1925, in Douthat to John Henry and Mary Elizabeth (Roe) Wright. She graduated at Salutatorian from Picher High School. She lived in Tiff City, Mo., from 1957 to 1967, in Cardin for 17 years and in North Miami for the last 17 years.
She was a member of Cardin Baptist Church.
She married the Rev. Clyde J. Stilley on March 30, 1946, in Columbus, Kan.
He survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include three sons and their wives, Jordan and Susie Stilley of Miami, Rick Stilley of Fairland and Kevin and Susan Stilley of Fort Worth, Texas; one daughter and her husband, Clydette and Reece Womack of Edmond, eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and six siblings, John Allen Wright, Trudy Ford, Fannie Rodgers, Emma Long, Albert Wright and Linsey Wright.
Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami. The Rev. Gerald Dyer and the Rev. Joe Don Olds will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
Pallbearers will be Dale Bryan, Buddy Kerley, Fred VonMoss Jr., Mike McCoy, Ralph Leslie and Dale Garrett.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami.
Memorials are suggested to the Gideons or the Baptist Children's Home in care of the funeral home.
