Marlene P. Bryson of Welch died Wednesday, Oct. 1, 2008, at her home. She was 76.
Mrs. Bryson was born in Bartlett, Kan., to Wilbur and Nora Hayes McCord.
She was a baptized member of the Bartlett Christian Church, a Welch Kappa Nu charter member since 1978 and a member of the Welch Public School Enrichment Foundation Board. She and and her husband were instrumental in founding the Golden Rocket 4-H Club. She served as the sewing leader helping young women in her home.
She and her husband worked cattle and farmed a ranch. She was the ranch secretary and bookkeeper. With help from their son, she continued to operate the ranch until her death.
She married Ronald E. Bryson on March 4, 1951, at Edna, Kan. He preceded her in death on Nov. 21, 2001, after a long illness.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Ronald Glen and Arleen Bryson of Welch; two daughters and their husbands, Rhonda and Dale Charles of Welch and Barbara and Roger Reavis of Bartlesville; nine grandchildren and their spouses, Tobie and Ryan Gatewood and Lacie Charles, all of Welch, Mandie and Justin Kuykendall of Carnegie, Brandon and Sarah Reavis of Skiatook, Clinton Reavis of Dallas, Texas, Dustin and Courtney Bryson of Stillwater, Haylee and Sloan Hayes of Vinita, Brandy and Scott Grassl of Oswego, Kan., and Jessica McKee of Bartlett, Kan., and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Bartlett Christian Church. Burial will be in Edna Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Thomas Funeral Home in Welch.
