William Dean Boman, of Miami, OK, passed away Thursday, February 19, 2009 at his home after a long battle with cancer.
He was born August 26, 1933, in Elsmore, Kansas to Dean L. and Ruth (Deer) Boman. He was a proud alumnus of Elsmore High School. He married Alice Marie Gatewood in Nevada, MO, on August 23, 1952; they celebrated over 56 years of marriage. She survives, of the home.
Mr. Boman worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years, retiring from Indiana Western Express as the safety instructor. He was a member of All Saints' Episcopal Church in Miami.
Additional survivors include two daughters and their husbands, (Ruth) Kay and Ken Harvey of Miami, and Deana and Don Engle of Sapulpa, OK; two grandchildren, Deuce and Aimee Watson of Oklahoma City, and Heather Watson and her fiance Mark Jones, of Sapulpa; three step-grandchildren, Calton (Stephanie) Harvey of Broken Arrow, Amy (Matt) Ensley of Greenville, TX, and Obadiah (Michelle) Harvey of Las Vegas, NV; one great-granddaughter, Alice Ann Rapp; and 4 step great-granchildren, Grace and Dylan Harvey and Marcus and Abigail Ensley. He is also survived by siblings Shirley (Vernon) Shultz, of Chanute, KS; Glen (Sis) Boman, Bristow, OK; Phyllis (Larry) Puckett, Nebraska; Helen (Andy) Roberts, Stark, KS; Sue (Rick) Coultas, Iola, KS; Dale Boman, Iola, KS, Tom Gatewood, Wyandotte, Bob (Shirley) Gatewood, Houston, TX; Jim (Darlene) Gatewood, Wyandotte; Larry (Sally) Gatewood, Miami; and Linda (Bob) Colver, Welch.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Ralph and Jeff Boman, and one granddaughter, Keli Marie Boman.
Mr. Boman has been taken for cremation under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home, Miami. Memorial services will be Monday, March 2, at 10:00 am at All Saints' Episcopal Church, 225 B Street NW, Miami with the Rev. Susan Connell as celebrant. Burial will follow in the Good Shepherd Memorial Garden at the church. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to All Saints' Episcopal Church.
