Llora Jackie Bresee of Picher died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at her home after an illness. She was 85.
Miss Bresee was born Oct. 24, 1922, in Singer, La., to John and Fannie (Bass) Walters. She lived in Picher all of her life. She graduated from Picher High School and from Northeastern State Teachers College in 1949. She was a member of Rho Thera Sigma, honorary scholastic fraternity, and Delta Sigma Ki, speech fraternity.
She taught school for 38 years in Oklahoma. She was a member of First United Methodist Church in Picher and attended Faith Church of God in Picher.
Survivors include two nephews and their wives, Calvin R. and Alice Walters of Frontenac, Kan., and Travis O. and Viola Walters of Tecumseh; one niece, Jillian M. McNatt of Oklahoma City, several great-nieces and nephews and great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, John C. Walters, and one sister, Margaret Walters.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher. The Rev. Arland Roberts will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.
The family will receive friends from 5 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
