Don M. Fanning of Miami died Tuesday, May 19, 2009, at his home. He was 77.

Mr. Fanning was born March 3, 1932, in Peoria to Orville and Mae (Carver) Fanning. He lived in the Miami area all of his life.

He worked as security at Border Town Bingo.

He married Darlene Dinneen in June 1966 in Neosho, Mo. She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include one son, Don Fanning Jr. of Grove; four daughters and their husbands, Donna and Rene Vasquez of Beaverton, Ore., Rhonda Garcia of Wyandotte, Kay Barker of Commerce and Debi and David Montgomery of Springfield, Mo.; two brothers, Paul Fanning of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Kenny Fanning of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Mildred Madison of Commerce and helen Price of Baxter Springs, 15 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Fanning and Carl Fanning, and two sisters, including Colleen Martin.

Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Miami. The Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate. Burial will be in G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami.

Pallbearers will be Paul Fanning, Kenny Fanning, Cory Thompson, Shawn Stovall, Heavey Peacock and Bob Whetzel.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
