Walter H. Jones of Picher died Monday, Dec. 17, 2007, at his home after an illness. He was 86.
Mr. Jones was born Feb. 7, 1921, in Hockerville to Jacob Lacy and Mary F. (Rollins) Jones. He lived in Picher all of his life.
He was a World War II veteran of the Army.
He was a retired lead and zinc miner.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Wilba Jones, and his parents.
Survivors include one daugher, Wanda Lake of Picher; two brothers and their wives, David and Ethyl Jones of Atchison, Kan., and Clifford and Betty Jones of Sallisaw, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Greenlawn Cemetery, northwest of Treece, Kan. The Rev. Geoff Buffalo will officiate.
Military rites will be conducted by the American Legion Post No. 147 Funeral Detail of Miami.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the Paul Thomas Funeral Home in Picher.
