Melvin L. Brock of Fairland died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at home. He was 91.
Mr. Brock was born March 3, 1917, in Fairland to John and Ida (Chastain) Brock. He was a lifetime resident of Fairland.
He worked for the State of Oklahoma as a superintendent of state parks. He was a member of the Fairland Masonic Frisco Lodge No. 20 and attended the First United Methodist Church in Fairland.
He married Anna Whipkey on Nov. 19, 1938, in Miami.
Survivors include one son and his wife, Melvin Eugene and Brenda Brock Jr. of Fairland; one daughter and her husband, Ruthie and Larry Boyd of Fairland; one brother, H.L. Brock of Hickory Grove; eight grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one son, John Brock; his parents; one brother, Leonard Brock, and one sister, Cretia Maples.
Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Hickory Grove Cemetery. Pastor Carole Minter will officiate.
Honorary pallbearers will be Tim Boyd, Jeff Boyd, Donnie Fields, James Turner, Kent Brock and Dylan Brock.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.
