Carl R. Oakley of Afton died Saturday, May 19, 2007, after a lengthy illness. He was 79.
Mr. Oakley was born Feb. 25, 1928, in Bernice, to George and Audry (Stotts) Oakley. He was a lifetime Afton resident.
He was retired, having worked as a molding supervisor for TRW in Vinita. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Grove.
He married Margarita Molos on Feb. 1, 1979, in the Philippines. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include two sons and their wives, Rick and Sandra Oakley and Marty and Shelly Oakley, all of Fairland; three daughters and their husbands, Pam and Doug Tedford of Gentry, Ark., Carla and Leon Chappell of Fairland and Neneth and Hoa Phung of Oklahoma City; two brothers, Bud Oakley of Afton, and Ted Oakley and his wife Meta Jo of Fairland; four sisters, Ruby Hays of Vinita, Dorothy Mays of Afton, Ruth Geouge and her husband Truman of Miami and Shirley Payton and her husband Bob of Fairland, 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded by one son, Danny Oakley; his parents and three brothers, Ralph Oakley, Ray Oakley and Roy Oakley.
Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Roman Catholic Church in Grove with the Rev. Alex Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in Sixkiller Cemetery, southeast of Afton.
Pallbearers will be Travis Ryan, Jeremy Oakley, Jason Oakley, Jacob Oakley, Jerrod Oakley and Reid VanHoose.
The rosary will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday at Adcock Funeral Home in Fairland.
Memorials are suggested to the Catholic Charities in care of the funeral home.
