Elvis Leon Adams of Quapaw died Tuesday, Dec. 18, 2007, at St. Johnís Regional Medical Center in Joplin, Mo. He was 72.
Mr. Adams was born March 11, 1935, in Gould to Walter and Ruby (Jones) Adams. He attended school in Altus. He lived in Baxter Springs, Kan., from 1966 until moving to Quapaw in 1978.
He worked as a truck driver for 37 1/2 years for Yellow Freight Systems before retiring in 1995. He was a member of the Teamsters Union. He was baptized in Cardin Christian Church in 2000.
He married Shirley Adams on Sept. 8, 1956. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Deborah and Fred Arnall of Granby, Mo., and Teresa and Randall Freeze of Liberal, Mo.; two sons and their wives, Billy and Melissa Adams of Baxter Springs and Jimmy and Sheila Adams of Quapaw, 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Derfeltís Baxter Chapel in Baxter Springs. Burial will be in Baxter Cemetery, Baxter Springs.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
