Gladys E. Power Wyatt of Miami died Tuesday, Jan. 26, 2010, at Craig General Hospital in Vinita. She was 87.
Mrs. Wyatt was born June 18, 1922, in Wyandotte to James and Mary M. (McKinney) Powell. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1941, State Business College in 1948 and Afton Vo-Tech in 1978 with as a licensed practical nurse. She lived in Miami since 1941 moving from Wyandotte.
She was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church in Miami and Eastern Stars of Afton. She worked for the City of Miami as a clerk in the Utility Department for 13 years and for Care Nursing Home in Miami.
She married Frank Power on April 30, 1955. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1991.
She married Jess Wyatt on Dec. 11, 1993. He preceded her in death on May 31, 1995.
She was also preceded by one son, Charles Franklin Power; her parents, and one brother, Carl Powell.
Survivors include three nieces, Shirley Shockey and husband Kenny of Granby, Mo., Carla Culver of Wyandotte and Jeanette Ford of Miami.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami. Pastor Jon Bates will officiate.
