Ralph H. Huston, age 79 of Columbus, Kan., passed away, Tuesday, Feb. 28, 2012, at the Medicalodge of Columbus Nursing Home in Columbus, Kan. He was born on Feb. 9, 1933, in Columbus, Kan., the son of James and Celia (Catlett) Huston.

He was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He worked as a machinist in automotive factories most of his life. In his early years he played bass guitar for Conni Conrad & the Bell Hops and worked as a disk jockey for WMRH Radio in Joplin, Mo. He also was voted Mr. Columbus 2011 at the Medicalodge of Columbus.

He was preceded in death by his parents; three sisters, Lorene Cook, Audrey Smith and Lucille Lewis and one brother, Calvin Huston.

He is survived by three sons, Gary Huston and his wife, Terry of Joplin, Mo., Chris Huston of Columbus, Kan., and Shannon Huston and his wife, Ginger, of Fairland, Okla., and one daughter Pam Cody and her husband Robert, of Baxter Springs, Kan. Also surviving are nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Ralph H. Huston will be held 2 p.m., Friday, March 2, 2012, at Paul Thomas Funeral Home, Miami, with Pastor Robert Cody, officiating.

Visitation will be held Thursday, March 1, 2012, at the funeral home from 7-8 p.m. Pallbearers will be Bill Crossland, Joe Berry, Justin Clark, Jim Cody, Norman Cody and Chip Moreland. Interment will be in Greenlawn Cemetery in Columbus, Kan.
