Lloyd Elzie Devine of Hollister, Mo., died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2008. He was 95.
He was born Feb. 21, 1913, in Ottawa County to Robert Henry and Joda (Shaffer) Divine. He was the oldest of three children.
Mr. Divine lived most of his life in the Ottawa County, Okla., area until moving to Hollister in 1996 to live near his son and grandchildren.
Mr. Divine married LeeRoy White on Sept. 9, 1937. He worked for the NEO, Frisco and Burlington Northern railroads for 41 years before retiring in 1978. He was a railroad engineer.
He attended Long Assembly of God Church in Miami for most of his life where he was the Sunday school superintendent for many years. He also attended Faith Tabernacle Church in Commerce.
After moving to Hollister, he attended New Life Temple in Hollister until his death.
Mr. Divine was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Oletha and Loretta, and one grandson, Lindle Elbert Divine.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by one son, Eldon and wife Wanda of Hollister; one grandson, Lloyd Divine and wife Linda of Ozark, Mo.; one granddaughter, Laina Smith of Berryville, Ark., and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Long Assembly of God Church in Miami with the Rev. Jerry Haynes and the Rev. Viola Perdue officiating.
Burial will follow in the G.A.R. Cemetery in Miami under the direction of Snapp-Bearden Funeral Home of Branson, Mo.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 4 p.m. today at the funeral home.
