Charles Jr. “Skeeter” Rickman of Chesapeake, Va., died Friday, Dec, 12, 2008, at the home of his aunt in Coffeyville, Kan., following a battle with cancer. He was 48.
Mr. Rickman was born July 11, 1960, in Miami to Charles Eugene and Blanche Mae (Davis) Rickman. He grew up in rural Welch and graduated from Welch High School in 1978.
For years, he was active with Chetopa, Kan., summer league baseball and served as umpire.
He married Kellie Bullard in 1984. They later divorced.
He married Martha Plata on Sept. 5, 2003. She survives, of the home.
Additional survivors include one daughter, Heather Rickman of Chetopa; one son, Levi Rickman of Chetopa; one brother, Joe Rickman of Coffeyville; two stepdaughters, Monica and Raquel of Chesapeake, and three stepgrandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Services will be 2 p.m. today at the Ottawa Indian Cemetery in Miami.
Arrangements are under the direction of Bath-Forbes-Hoffman Funeral Home in Chetopa.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home.
