William Dean Boman of Miami died Thursday, Feb. 19, 2009, at his home after a long battle with cancer. 

Mr. Boman was born Aug. 26, 1933, in Elsmore, Kan., to Dean L. and Ruth (Deer) Boman.  He was an alumnus of Elsmore High School.

He worked in the trucking industry for over 30 years, retiring from Indiana Western Express as the safety instructor.  He was a member of All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Miami.   

He married Alice Marie Gatewood on Aug. 23, 1952, in Nevada, Mo.  She survives, of the home.

Additional survivors include two daughters and their husbands, (Ruth) Kay and Ken Harvey of Miami and Deana and Don Engle of Sapulpa; siblings and their spouses, Shirley and Vernon Shultz of Chanute, Kan., Glen and Sis Boman of Bristow, Phyllis and Larry Puckett of Nebraska, Helen and Andy Roberts of Stark, Kan., Sue  and Rick Coultas and Dale Boman, all of Iola, Kan., Bob and Shirley Gatewood of Houston, Texas, Jim and Darlene Gatewood and Tom Gatewood, all of Wyandotte, Larry and Sally Gatewood of Miami and Linda and Bob Colver of Welch; two grandchildren, Deuce and his wife Aimee Watson of Oklahoma City and Heather Watson of Sapulpa; three step-grandchildren and their spouses, Calton and Stephanie Harvey of Broken Arrow, Amy and Matt Ensley of Greenville, Texas, and Obadiah and Michelle Harvey of Las Vegas, Nev.; one great-granddaughter, Alice Ann Rapp, and four stepgreat-granchildren, Grace and Dylan Harvey and Marcus and Abigail Ensley. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ralph and Jeff Boman, and one granddaughter, Keli Marie Boman.

He was taken for cremation under the direction of Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Miami. 

Memorial services will be 10 a.m. March 2 at All Saints’ Episcopal Church in Miami. The Rev. Susan Connell will be celebrant. Burial will be in the Good Shepherd Memorial Garden at the church.
