Stanley Wayne Christian of Miami died Sunday, Feb. 8, 2009, at his home. He was 69.
He was born Dec. 7, 1939, in Wichita, Kan., to Glenn and Pauline (Holcomb) Christian. He graduated from Vinita High School and later attended and played football at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College in Miami.
He was a cowboy, making the National Finals Rodeo in 1976 as a steer wrestler. He worked as a cowboy and had owned Lucky’s in Claremore, before his retirement.
Survivors include one daughter and her husband, Lynn and Ronnie Burris of Lyndale, Texas; two sons, Clay Christian and wife Brenda of Neosho, Mo., and Craig Ryan Christian of Houston, Texas; one brother and his wife, Charkie and Frances Christian of Vinita; one sister and her husband, Glenda and Tom Dewbre of Blanchard; four grandchildren, Autumn Burris, Derrick Campbell, Chantell Johnson and Corrine Renfro, and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services are 11 a.m. Thursday. Pastor Wade Markham will officiate.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Luginbuel Funeral Home of Vinita.
