Euleama Maxine Hargis of Miami died Friday, Sept. 28, 2007, at Miami Nursing Center after a short illness. She was 79.

Mrs. Hargis was born May 25, 1928, in “Y” City, Ark., to Roy and Maggie (Ward) Smith. She graduated from Mena, Ark., High School in 1947. She moved to Miami in the early 1950s and attended Miami Beauty College where she received her cosmetology degree.

She worked as a beautician for various beauty salons in Miami. She was of the Christian faith.

She married Tilman Garrett. They were later divorced. She then married O.L. “Buddy” Hargis. They were later divorced.

Survivors include two daughters, Derinda Bussman of Great Bend, Kan., and Sharon Mailath of Tulsa; five grandchildren, Melissa Mailath, Daniel Mailath and Tyler Mailath, all of Tulsa, Ryan Bussman of Derby, Kan., and Derrick Bussman of Hays, Kan., and five great-grandchildren, Melynda, Lauren, Shelby, Garrett and Daniel.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Calvin Smith.

Memorial services will be 3 p.m. Saturday at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home in Miami. The Rev. Bob Barker will officiate.

Honorary pallbearers will be Ryan Bussman, Derrick Bussman, Daniel Mailath and Tyler Mailath.
