Longtime resident of Fairland Robert E. Love passed away on Friday morning June 11, 2010 at his home in Fairland. He was 96.
Robert was born at Mountain Grove, Mo., on May 24, 1914, to Frank and Tru Heckman Love.
Robert worked and retired from the Frisco Railroad as a signalman. He and Elizabeth were married Aug. 23, 1940, and lived in Fairland since 1946.
Robert has been a member of First United Methodist Church Fairland for many years. He started the tape ministry for the shut-ins and served as a trustee for many years at the church. Robert was a faithful servant.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents and two grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years Elizabeth Love of the home; two daughters, Byrkie and husband John Horn of Grove, and Arlene Chriswell of Springfield, Mo.; two sons, Jim and wife Patty Love of Fairland, and Larry and wife Angie Love of Langley; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held 10 a.m., Monday June 14, at Fairland First United Methodist Church with Rev. Carole Minter officiating. Interment will follow at Fairland Cemetery. The family will receive friends for visitation from 3 to 4 p.m., on Sunday June 13, at Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home of Fairland. The family has chosen Cooper-Althouse Funeral Home with their services.
