Walton Price of Quapaw died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at his home.

He was 84.

Mr. Price was born July 28, 1924, in Cleveland, Okla., to Thomas and Lula (Smallwood) Price. He lived in North Miami prior to moving to Quapaw four years ago.

He was a World War II veteran of the Navy and saw action in New Guinea.

He worked in the construction industry throughout his life. He was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Baptist faith.

He married Edna Brock on Oct. 5, 1946, in Columbus, Kan. She survives.

Additional survivors include four sons, Gary Price of Quapaw, Russell Price of Riverton, Kan., and Roger Price and Dwight Price, both of who live on Price Hill in Ottawa County; two daughters, Charlene Carver of Baxter Springs, Kan., and Lora Pierce of Quapaw; 18 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

Arrangements will be 10 a.m. Thursday at Abbott Funeral Home chapel in Baxter Springs. Tim Warren will officiate. Burial will be in Lowell (Kan.) Cemetery.

His grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
